It is mainly characterised by numbness, pain and limited functionality of fingers. During carpal tunnel release, a pressure applied on the affected nerve, called the median nerve, is released. The procedure takes no more than twenty minutes. Carpal tunnel release is performed under local anaesthesia. The client can leave the clinic the same day. The stitches are removed after ten to fourteen days. A bandage must be worn for two weeks after the procedure. A small scar is left on the inner side of the wrist. The surgery helps the client get rid of the problem permanently.
